Wizards of the Coast announced the Tyranny of Dragons storyline yesterday while adding the Starter set, Player’s Handbook, Dungeon Master’s Guide, and Monster Manual to the Dungeons and Dragons release schedule. At the same time Kobold Press announced 2 adventures for the Tyranny of Dragons storyline.
The Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set will have everything you need to start playing the newest version of the world’s oldest roleplaying game.
This box contains the essential rules of the game, a 64-page adventure book with everything the Dungeon Master needs to get started, a 32-page rulebook for playing characters level 1 – 5, 5 pre-generated characters, each with a character sheet and supporting reference material, and 6 dice.
With a retail price of $19.99, the D&D Starter Set hits the shelves of your local friendly gaming store on July 15th.
The Dungeons & Dragons Player’s Handbook is the essential reference for every Dungeons & Dragons roleplayer and contains rules for character creation and advancement, backgrounds and skills, exploration and combat, equipment, spells, and much more.
The Player’s Handbook will be released as a 30 page hardcover with a retail price of $49.95 and will hit the stores on August 19th.
The Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual presents a horde of classic Dungeons & Dragons creatures, including dragons, giants, mind flayers, and beholders.
Also released as a 320 page hardcover costing $49.95, the Monster manual will be available on September 30th.
The Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master’s Guide is everthing a Dungeon Master needs to weave legendary stories for the world’s greatest roleplaying game.

In addition, Wizards has partnered with WizKids to produce a new line of D&D miniatures that fans can use in conjunction with their Tyranny of Dragons adventures, as well as complement their tabletop RPG experience brought forth by the new rules set. With these new minis, players can expect high-quality, pre-painted plastic miniatures featuring iconic heroes and villains straight from the Forgotten Realms.
Kobold Press’ Wolfgang Baur and Steve Winter have joined forces to create 2 adventures that will kick off the Tyranny of Dragons storyline.
In Hoard of the Dragon Queen the adventurers come to the aid of both the Harpers and the Zhentarim to stop the Cult of the Dragon and the Red Wizards of Thay who are seeking to bring Tiamat from her prison in the Nine Hells to Faerun.
The Hoard of the Dragon Queen is a 96 page adventure will be available August 19th and will cost $29.95.
